Eating Noodles~

Mie, Yamie, Lamien, Ramen, Soba, Udon, Kwetiaw, Beehoon, Pho, Spaghetti, Fetucini, anything that look like edible long string made from flour~

I want to argue my Mom about the proper way of eating noodles, but if she'll get mad because I object her way of eating noodles then I guess it ain't worth it. So I just rant about it here... :P (The last time I argue her about drinking fruit juice in restaurant, she didn't speak to me for about 3 days.)

So according to my Mom, when we're eating noodles it is an unrefined manner if I slurped them until the end of the noodle. We should bite it in the middle, chew and swallow, then continue to put the noodle in mouth, bit-chew-swallow again until they're all gone.

I can understand she doesn't want me to look like a pitiful uncultured person who seems to never eat noodles before. And I agree chewing is an important healthy process when you eat. But I prefer to not bite them in the middle.

Why...?
Because I think noodles are made as symbolization for longevity. So I feel bad to cut it in the middle. Fried Noodles are always served in most of Asian wedding right? Isn't it a symbol for having a long life and long good relationship?

Second, it's my way to appreciate whoever cook the noodle. It can be interpreted as the noodle is really good and I like it so much that I couldn't even stop to bite it in the middle. *__*
Who won't like it when someone eating your dish in full of passion? Especially if they're finished without any remain in the bowl, isn't it the best appreciation for the chef and make the dishwasher job a bit easier?

I guess the etiquette for eating noodles are different depending where you are. Like I've heard it's actually polite to slurping and a bit noisy when you eat noodles in Japan. I will eat it how I think it'll be the best way to enjoy them.~
